25 again

I used to joke about staying 25 forever. It’s an age I cherish a lot because it’s when I started feeling young and free. It’s when I decided to become a man without fully comprehending what I was going to face. I was traveling a lot back then, especially for work and making good money for that age, also considering that I was living in a third world country. If you ask me now, I’ll tell you that I’m 25 with 15 years of experience. Funny how we reflect on the past every time we reach a big milestone. But I’ll tell you that the past does not necessarily define your future. It’s the action that you’re going to take right after reading this.

Last week started off pretty rough. A deal I was working on hit a serious snag in the last stretch. We managed to take control back, and I can say that at the end of the week, the apparent chaotic issue became a minor setback. The worst thing you can do during an emergency is to panic. You lose all your logical thinking, you waste precious energy and time, and you achieve nothing but fuel the franticness that can turn a normal problem into a nightmare. The best thing you can do is ignore the problem. But just for a minute. Take a deep breath. Drink a good glass of water. Room temperature preferably. Take as much time as you need. Ideally don’t ignore the problem forever because it will not magically disappear. Get back to it as soon as your mind is clear and you feel in a better state. And focus on trying to solve the issue at hand.

I used to think that everything will always work out one way or another. My deeply anchored positivity never allowed any pickle to overwhelm me to the point of thinking that an obstacle was insurmountable. I can’t really think of a past difficulty so tremendous that I had to carry a heavy burden of survival. But I'm learning that we don't need a monumental crisis to experience monumental growth. It’s the sum of every choice, every action, every thought that defines how prepared we are to adapt to anything. Sometimes, the hardest thing we have to overcome is just our own quiet self-doubt, our stubborn habits, or the discomfort of stepping outside our comfort zones. The baby steps still shape who we are. You are probably telling yourself that you already know all this. That you will take actions to improve what is needed. But life will always get in the way. Remember this.

If you can relate to anything that I shared with you today, feel free to hit reply. And my friend, things will get better or worse, it’s just a matter of perspective and how you decide to take matters into your hands.

Keep adding more years of experience to your 25!
